Multi-years/environmental evaluation for high photosynthetic, bio-efficient and essential oil genotypes selection in the breeding of vetiver (Chrysopogon zizanioides(L.) Roberty) crop / R. K. Lal, C. S. Chanotiya, Pankhuri Gupta, Anand Mishra, Deepa Bisht, Ranjana Maurya, S. Srivastva, Yatish Pant

ABSTRACT The stability and association parameters were quantified through a study of the seven economic physiological traits in the vetiver. This study’s objectives were to estimate the genotypes response over the years of interaction and the selection of stable and photosynthetic efficient lines of vetiver. The path analysis indicated the highest direct contributions to the yield of essential oil were made by transpiration rate (0.189) and essential oil percent (0.182) under the residual effect (R = 0.953). The stability models identified seven stable lines for oil yield and three highly stable lines for the high photosynthesis rate. The β-vetivenene, -cedrenal, -cedrenol, khusilal, khusol, khusimone, khusimol, and khusinol were the major oil components in selected genotypes. Based on the selection parameters, the genotypes K-59, K-42, K-22, K-46, K-2, K-60, K-30 for high oil yield, and K-12, K-58, K-14, K-45 for the photosynthesis rate are recommended for large scale cultivation.
