Method for culturing cells, and kit and apparatus therefor

Provided herein, in certain aspects, are methods relating to incubating or culturing a cell composition (e.g., a population of lymphocytes) (e.g., for induced stimulation of expansion (proliferation), activation, co-stimulation, and/or survival). In certain aspects, methods and reactants are provided for stimulating a population of cells, such as expansion (proliferation), survival or retention, activation, co-stimulation, or other effects, including binding an agent to a molecule on the surface of the cell to provide one or more signals to the cell. In some cases, the reactant is a reactant comprising a plurality of binding sites for an agent (e.g., a multimerization reactant) whereby one or more agents are multimerized by reversible binding to the reactant, e.g., thereby producing a stimulatory reactant (multimerized agent) having a stimulatory agent multimerized thereon. In some aspects, multimeric agents can be used for expansion or proliferation or other stimulation of cell populations, and then such stimulators can be removed by disruption of reversible bonds.
