Abstract Disclosed are compounds of formula (la) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof, pharmaceutical compositions comprising compounds of formula (la) and methods of using the same for treating cancer or a respiratory inflammatory disease and inhibiting arginase: R1 B, /H O H (la) wherein RI is -NHRia; Ria is -H or -C(O)CH(Rib)NHR1c; and Rib is selected from -H, -(C1-C4) alkyl and CH 2ORand R1c is -H; or Rib and R1c, together with the atom to which they are attached, form a 5-membered heterocyclic ring; and Rd is H or -CH3..
