To provide a tablet printing device and a tablet printing method which accurately determine the shape, position or rotation angle of a tablet and thereby accurately perform printing on the surface of the tablet.SOLUTION: A tablet printing device 1 includes an auto encoder 71. The auto encoder 71 outputs a reconstruction image D3 by performing dimension reduction and reconstruction on a photographed image D1 of a tablet. A parameter used for processing of the dimension reduction and reconstruction is adjusted with machine learning in advance. The reconstruction image D3 output from the auto encoder 71 is the image in which random elements such as glossiness, roughness, defects and the like are reduced. Therefore, the shape, position or rotation angle of the tablet can be accurately determined on the basis of the reconstruction image D3. Consequently, printing can be accurately performed on the surface of the tablet.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 5.
