Nanostructured planar lenses for display technology
Embodiments described herein relate to display devices, such as virtual reality and augmented reality displays and applications. In one embodiment, a planar substrate has a stepped feature formed thereon and an emitter structure formed on each of a number of features. An encapsulation layer is disposed on the substrate, and a plurality of uniform dielectric nanostructures are formed on the encapsulation layer. A virtual image produced by the apparatus disclosed herein provides improved image sharpness by reducing chromatic aberration at the image plane..
