Valutazione di un metodo rapido per la diagnosi d’infezione da H. pylori attraverso ricerca di antigene fecale

Aim:This study was aimed at the evaluation of a newly developed immunochromatography (side migration: SM) test for the detection of Helicobacter pylori antigen in stool specimens. As a comparative method, a classic immunoenzimatic method (EIA), based on the use of rabbit polyclonal antibodies to H.pylori was used. Methods: The first step of the study was the determination of the analytic sensitivity of the new test by using a calibrated serial suspension of H.pylori (strain CCUG 17874) (from 1.1 mg/ml to 0.001 mg/ml).The study population was composed by 30 patients suffering from dyspepsia and found positive by the EIA test. The same stool specimens used for the EIA evaluation were examined also by new “SM” test. Results: The overall analytical sensitivity of the SM test was 0.007 mg/ml. 27 out of the 30 EIA positive studied patients were identified and confirmed as positive by the SM method. The agreement between the methods used in this study was 90%.The 3 samples detected as negative by trhe SM test were again tested with another EIA method (DAKO) and finally scored as positive. Conclusion: The new SM rapid DYASET test could be used as a routine diagnostic tool in the microbiology laboratory for the detection of H.pylori antigen in stools..
