EDUCATION DURING A GLOBAL PANDEMIC - THE POSITION OF THE UNIVERSITY LECTURES (ON THE EXAMPLE OF UNIVERSITY OF PLOVDIV PAISII HILENDARSKI)

In the beginning of 2020 the world faced one of the most unprecedented situations for the last 100 years. The Covid-19 pandemic has had and is still continuing to have an impact on all human activities worldwide. Without a doubt, in the current situation, an unusual way of working is required. During a crisis, people try to adapt quickly, to find new ways and methods to carry on going forward, while also adhering to the restrictions in place. With the exceptional circumstances announced in Bulgaria on 13.03.2020, and the regulations in place to restrict the spread of the virus, all school activities have been suspended in the entire county. Of course, the educational process is also facing big challenges. This article is the result of a survey held amongst the lecturers in University of Plovdiv Paisii Hilendarski and is aimed at reflecting their opinion on ways of working and the efforts to deal with this unexpected situation, along with their recommendations at this stage. The focus is aimed towards the distance learning (as an only option of continuing with the teaching process, but not as an alternative method of teaching during normal circumstances) and providing this to the students of University of Plovdiv Paisii Hilendarski..
