A alegoria de Galaaz e a representação dos impérios do mundo
The character of the knight that goes by the name of Galaaz/Galaad, who is the son of Lancelot du Lac, is significantly enhanced in the Arthurian cycle redacted in France during the first half of the 13th century. The reformulation of Livre de Lancetot makes a number of anticipatory mentions, of a prophetic nature, to the protagonist’s son. The first of these displays an allegoric figuration featuring several creatures that seems to originate in the biblical Book of Daniel, where questions related to the coming of the messiah and of the empire that would overcome all previous powers are addressed. This affiliation is corroborated in other moments of the cycle, namely in the Estoire del Saint Graal, that explicitly refers the aforementioned prophetic book in the episodes leading to the establishing of the chosen lineage of which Galaaz/Galaad is considered to be the last representative..
