Cycling through the pandemic. Protecting riders from Covid 19

The paper analyses the measures implemented by food delivery companies to reduce the risk of contagion among riders. In particular, it aims to verify whether these companies have fulfilled their obligations regarding the protection of workers' health during the first phase of the health emergency. The empirical basis on which the article is based was produced by a case study conducted in Catania in the period June-October 2020, involving five platforms - Glovo, Foodys, Just Eat, Social Food and Winelivery - and 120 riders. This allowed us to verify whether the measures implemented by the platforms comply with the guidelines defined in Italy by the Emergency Protocols, signed between the Government and social partners, as well as with the principles defined by case law..
