The Effects of Covid-19 Pandemic on Selected Sectors: An Evaluation with the Axis of Turkey
The Covid-19 outbreak has had a significant pressure on the global economy since the first months of its occurrence and continues to do so. The pandemic has not yet ended and it is unclear when it will end. Therefore the effects of the pandemic are not clear. But all economic units are struggling to get out of the negative effects of the pandemic with minimal damage. Each country tries to support this struggle under its own economic structure and opportunities and announces incentive packages. When the literature on the pandemic is analyzed, many academic studies about the effects of the pandemic on the whole economy have been encountered. But the number of studies examining the impact of the pandemic on the basis of individual sectors is little. It is thought that the study will contribute to the literature in this respect. In the study, it was tried to examine the effect of the pandemic on selected sectors by using the credit card and bank card transaction numbers and transaction amounts obtained from the Interbank Card Center. In the light of the data, it was observed that various changes occurred in consumer behavior due to the measures taken during the pandemic process, some sectors (such as airline, travel) were negatively affected and some sectors (such as electric-electronics, market shopping) were positively affected..
