Bacteremia and Meningitis Due to Kocuria rosea: Case Report

The genus Kocuria belongs to the family Micrococcaceae and includes Gram-positive strictly aerobic cocci. Kocuria sp. are found in the commensal flora of the mammalian skin and oropharynx and are rarely identified as pathogens. Kocuria sp. mainly infect patients with severe underlying diseases such as metabolic disorders, hematological malignancies and solid tumors.
