<正>我国近代脊柱外科的开端1921年,美国医生George W Gorder在北京协和医院成立了第一个西医骨科,这是现代骨科在我国的开端。随后,一批优秀的中国骨科医师先后远赴欧美地区,将西方骨科先进的治疗理念和治疗技术带回中国,正是他们促进了西方骨科在中国的逐步普及。孟继懋教授于1925年毕业于芝加哥医学院,跟随美国知名教授.

Spine Surgery in The People's Republic of China has made headway, as tenacious as this oriental society has ever been over the past 70 years, thanks to the commitment of professionals in different generations. The Spine Surgery Society of the Chinese Medical Association, founded in 1985, marked the recognition of spinal surgery as a sub-specialty. Since then, the society and other associations established successively have fueled its advancement in China. Remarkable achievements are evidenced by state-of-the-art practice, research results in the care of spinal pathologies and trauma, international acclaims as well. The new generation of spine surgeons in China are geared up for the upcoming missions rooted on the evidence-based practice with scientific rigor, innovation and self-reliance, and traits passed down from the progenitors.
