Circulating Permeability Factors in Primary Focal Segmental Glomerulosclerosis: A Review of the Literature

Primary focal periodic glomerular sclerosis( FSGS) is one of the main pathological types of steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome, and the prognosis of patients with steroid-resistant FSGS is poor. Most of the patients will progress to end-stage renal disease which needs dialysis or kidney transplantation. It has been speculated that some circulating permeability factors have relationship with the pathogenesis of the disease by researchers in recent years, such as cardiotrophin-like cytokine 1,CD_(40) antibodies and soluble urokinase-type plasminogen activator receptor( su PAR),but the definite proof still needs to be discovered. The su PAR might be used as a diagnostic biomarker of primary FSGS..
