Ocena właściwości antyproliferacyjnych kompleksów złota (III) z pochodnymi 2,2':6',2-terpirydyny pod kątem ich potencjalnych zastosować w terapii przeciwnowotworowej"

In recent years, the number of people suffering from cancer is growing. It is associated with increasing life expectancy and lifestyle (diet, sports and addictions). Unfortunately, cancer is often found at an advanced stage when aggressive treatment is needed. Nowadays, cancer therapy is based mainly on chemo- and radiation therapy, and their effectiveness depends on the type and stage of the cancer. Chemotherapy is a systemic treatment that does not remain indifferent to the patient's body. It carries a number of side effects, without always being effective. For this reason, new, anti-cancer substances are constantly being sought, which would be more effective in treatment, with reduced side effects and no effect on the body's normal cells. The subject of the study was to examine the physicochemical properties and biological activity of new gold (III) complexes with 2,2:6',2"-terpyridine derivatives. The theoretical part of the work describes cancer issues, their epidemiology, the most common cancers - breast and colorectal cancer, cancer therapies, drugs currently used in chemotherapy and a literature review of the use of gold compounds in medicine. The last chapters of this part constitute the theoretical introduction to biological research, describe the cell cycle and mechanisms of cell death. The practical part of the dissertation presents the methodology of physical and biological measurements carried out and also contains the conditions for cell culture. The work was finished with the presentation of results and their analysis. This part contains the physical properties of gold (III) complexes with 2,2":6',2"- terpyridines, cytotoxicity of these compounds and mechanisms of their biological action.".
