1. Introduction Lower back pain is a frequent reason for consultation and causes enormous costs for the health care system.[1] Symptomatic spinal stenosis is one reason for lower back pain. However, its treatment concept is inconsistent. Particularly, the effectiveness of epidural injections lacks evidence-based data.[2] The aim of this paper is, to analyse the patients outcome depending on the number of applied epidural injections with dexamethason. 2. Method In the context of a prospective study including 57 patients with symptomatic spinal stenosis at the orthopaedic clinic, from May 2012 to June 2013, the reduction of symptoms has been enquired within standardised questionnaires at three stages: 1. before starting the injections, 2. after ending the injections, 3. six weeks after injections. The patients were divided into three groups according to the number of epidural injections and the results were matched. Ten patients exclusively received conservative therapy, 18 patients received one injection and 27 received two epidural injections. 3. Results In order to test these three treatments for statistically significant impact on the patients outcome we applied the Kruskal-Wallis test. Each group was tested three times, respectively. This was done according to the three interview stages. The analysis of Funktionsfragebogen Hannover Rcken demonstrates that there was no significant distinction between the three groups before starting the therapy (chi-square=5,76). After ....
