Voltammetric Investigation and Determination of Piribedil in Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms Using Carbon-Based Electrodes

Oxidation behavior of piribedil was investigated using boron doped diamond (BDDE) and edge plane pyrolytic graphite electrodes (EPPGE). The relation between piribedil peak current and potential and pH, concentration, nature of the buffer and scan rate, separately, were studied. The oxidation of piribedil gave irreversible peak at both electrodes. The electrode process was found diffusion controlled according to scan rate results. For analytical purposes boron doped diamond electrode was used. The linearity was obtained in the range of 1.34x10-7 - 3.35x10-5 M with 1.95x10-8 M detection limit for differential pulse voltammetry in pH 3.7 acetate buffer solution. The repeatability, reproducibility, recovery and all validation parameters of the developed method were studied and the method was found to be precise and accurate..
